Art has unique potential to advance peace in transformative ways. In this spirit, the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement invites the public to engage with an exhibit of hope and reconciliation on September 20, 2018 at 4:00 pm.

In 2015, the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement (CPA) launched our Peace Incubator program to support new peace-related initiatives. In the years since, we have differentiated our Incubator program within the innovation ecosystem on campus and beyond by bridging the fields of peacebuilding and social innovation.

Peace Week 2018 is fast approaching, and ��ݮ��Ƶ region is getting ready to rally together in celebration of local initiatives for peace!

Throughout the week of September 17, you’re invited to mark the UN sanctioned International Day of Peace, which occurs on September 21 each year, by coming together with your community to celebrate in ways that are meaningful to you.

Join over a dozen community groups and businesses that are already preparing to host their own events, such as the ��ݮ��Ƶ Public Library, Queen Street Yoga, and Seven Shores Community Café.

The Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement (CPA) sits at the intersection of a number of fields. Peacebuilding, social innovation, and art for social change all find a home in the work of the CPA and our participants. In pursuit of our mission – to advance expansive and innovative understandings and practices of peace locally and globally – we have dug into these intersection points to see what new possibilities might emerge.

In 2017, Hiroshima survivor and nuclear disarmament advocate, Setsuko Thurlow, received the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). Yesterday afternoon, Thurlow received an honorary doctor of laws degree from the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ. Thurlow addressed an auditorium of Faculty of Arts graduates and their families, sharing her story and encouraging students to join ICAN’s cause, or to seek out a cause of their own.

This morning, the ��ݮ��Ƶ Region Record published an op ed written by CPA Director Paul Heidebrecht about the need for, and value of, peace as a defining principle of this Region's growing vision of producing 'tech for good'.

Conrad Grebel University College is pleased to have nominated Setsuko Thurlow for an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree (LLD) from the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ for her outstanding contribution to society as an advocate for peace and nuclear disarmament.

Last week, the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ hosted its 10^th annual Teaching and Learning Conference. Each year, the conference brings together instructors from a variety of faculties and departments to share research and teaching strategies through interactive workshops and panel discussions.
