Dr. Schreyer Duarte will discuss how she and her team approached the “staging of the other” in this 18th-century play from Germany, performed in today’s Canada, that reflects on the common humanity that unites us all. </p> <p>This event is FREE and open to ALL.</p> <p><em>P<span>resented in cooperation with the Department of Communication Arts.</span></em><br /><br /><br /></p><div class="uw-media media media--type-uw-mt-image media--view-mode-uw-vm-standard-image align-left" data-width="447" data-height="122"> <img src="/centre-for-german-studies/sites/default/files/uploads/images/uwaterloo_communication_arts_logo_horiz_rgb.jpg" width="447" height="122" alt="Communication Arts Logo" loading="lazy" typeof="foaf:Image" /></div> <div class="uw-media media media--type-uw-mt-image media--view-mode-uw-vm-standard-image" data-width="250" data-height="109"> <img src="/centre-for-german-studies/sites/default/files/uploads/images/wcgs_017_rgb_vf.jpg" width="250" height="109" alt="wcgos logo" loading="lazy" typeof="foaf:Image" /></div> <br /><br /><br /><a href="/centre-for-german-studies/sites/default/files/uploads/files/wcgsfall2019events.pdf">Printable poster of all WCGS Fall 2019 events</a> <hr /><h4>Thank you to all who came to our talk here are some pictures of the event.</h4> </div> </div> </div> <div class="block block-layout-builder block-inline-blockuw-cbl-image-gallery"> <div id="uw-ig-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0" class="uw-ig uw-ig--grid" data-id="5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0" data-images-num="" data-nav=""> <div class="uw-ig__wrapper"> <div class="uw-ig__item"> <div class="uw-ig__image"> <a class="uw-lightbox__open" href="#uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-0"> <img src="/centre-for-german-studies/sites/default/files/styles/uw_is_image_gallery_square/public/uploads/images/twitter3.jpg?itok=73GRK8cF" alt="Birgit Schreyer Duarte and James Skidmore" /></a> </div> </div> <div class="uw-ig__item"> <div class="uw-ig__image"> <a class="uw-lightbox__open" href="#uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-1"> <img src="/centre-for-german-studies/sites/default/files/styles/uw_is_image_gallery_square/public/uploads/images/dsc03920.jpg?itok=L1U9_qar" alt="Birgit Schreyer Duarte and James Skidmore" /></a> </div> </div> <div class="uw-lightbox" id="uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-0"> <div class="uw-lightbox__content"> <img src="/centre-for-german-studies/sites/default/files/uploads/images/twitter3.jpg" alt="Birgit Schreyer Duarte and James Skidmore" /><div class="uw-lightbox__title"> <div class="uw-lightbox__count"> <span>1 / 2</span> </div> </div> <a class="uw-lightbox__close" href="#uw-ig-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0"><span class="visually-hidden">Close enlarged image</span></a> <div class="uw-lightbox__prev-next"> <a class="uw-lightbox__prev" href="#uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-1"><span class="visually-hidden">Show previous image</span></a> <a class="uw-lightbox__next" href="#uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-1"><span class="visually-hidden">Show next image</span></a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="uw-lightbox" id="uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-1"> <div class="uw-lightbox__content"> <img src="/centre-for-german-studies/sites/default/files/uploads/images/dsc03920.jpg" alt="Birgit Schreyer Duarte and James Skidmore" /><div class="uw-lightbox__title"> <div class="uw-lightbox__count"> <span>2 / 2</span> </div> </div> <a class="uw-lightbox__close" href="#uw-ig-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0"><span class="visually-hidden">Close enlarged image</span></a> <div class="uw-lightbox__prev-next"> <a class="uw-lightbox__prev" href="#uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-0"><span class="visually-hidden">Show previous image</span></a> <a class="uw-lightbox__next" href="#uw-lightbox-5c863d9f-60c9-4869-9b23-8498ebd7ffa0-0"><span class="visually-hidden">Show next image</span></a> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="block block-layout-builder block-inline-blockuw-cbl-copy-text"> <div class="uw-copy-text"> <div class="uw-copy-text__wrapper "> <hr /><h4>Learn more about <em>Nathan the Wise</em></h4> <ul><li><em>Nathan the Wise<span> </span></em>was performed in 2016 in New York with F.
