Baylis Medical Capstone Design Awards

Eligibility

Student groups enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering’s fourth-year Capstone Design project. The awards are open to student groups from all departments within the Faculty of Engineering, undertaking a project with a biomedical focus.  Winning student groups may have the opportunity to consult with industry mentors from Baylis Medical Company if they have specific questions.

Value

In the Spring and Fall terms, three awards, valued up to $5,000 each, will be provided to student groups undertaking a Fourth-Year Capstone Design Project in any program in the Faculty of Engineering. The award funds will be divided equally among the winning team members.

4A Spring (for 4A teams currently enrolled in Spring term): June 16, 2025; pitch date: tbd

4A Fall (for 4A teams currently enrolled in Fall term): October 17, 2025; pitch date: tbd

Application selection process

  • Interested student groups apply by completing the Application Form.
  • A Faculty of Engineering selection panel will review all applications, invite a short-listed number of student groups to pitch their project idea to the panel and determine the winning groups in June and October.
