New study finds that 13 per cent of students in the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ’s Faculty of Environment carried out work related to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). ��ݮ��Ƶ created a pilot program to help increase both co-op student and employer awareness of SDGs.

CEE was honoured with a gold designation at the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Reimagine Education Awards in December. CEE’s Power of Partners for Prosperity program earned the honour in the Power of Partnerships Award category. 

Work-integrated learning (WIL) has a significant contribution to education. Not only does it deepen academic understanding, but also enhances employability outcomes, fostering the exchange of knowledge between students and workplaces. Implementing the ideal environment for WIL consists of understanding stakeholders' goals and needs, creating a supportive environment, as well as navigating diverging interests. Dr. Norah McRae, associate provost of CEE, discusses with the National Skills Network, the distinction between experiential education and practical work experience, and how WIL plays a role in contributing to the broader educational framework.

SDGs at Work is a new term-based activity launched by CEE, which aims to promote student discussion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students can then bring this learning into their workplace though work-integrated learning (WIL).

Staff loss is a struggle that many universities are facing post-pandemic. To combat this trend, leaders should focus on human-centered approaches, including recognition, professional development, and building community in the workplace.

Michael Litt (BASc ’11) and Devon Galloway (BASc ’10), cofounders of video sharing app Vidyard, credit their success to the hands-on skillset they gained from co-op. When The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario was overcapacity with children battling illnesses in November, two University ��ݮ��Ƶ Pharmacy students, who were already in Ottawa for their co-op positions, stepped up to help. Parsa Ali and Duaa Osman brought an “injection of energy” to the hospital during a tough time.
