The Dieter Schwarz Foundation has made a landmark donation to establish the Dieter Schwarz Chair in the Physics of Information and AI at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ — its first investment in a Canadian university. Held by Dr. Achim Kempf, a leading mathematical physicist, the chair aims to advance quantum technology and artificial intelligence through research at the intersection of quantum theory, machine learning, and algorithm design. Housed in the Faculty of Mathematics, the initiative will foster global collaboration, particularly with the innovation hub in Heilbronn, Germany. Kempf will lead a world-class research team focused on applying discoveries in medicine, cybersecurity, and materials science. University President Vivek Goel emphasized the initiative’s alignment with À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s long-term vision to drive innovation and societal progress through cutting-edge scientific research and international partnerships.
