Donors turn bold visions into reality
The fall term has brought exciting changes to 蓝莓视频 as we鈥檝e welcomed new leaders and created new space for innovators on our campuses.
During our convocation ceremonies, we were pleased to celebrate the installation of Dr. Jagdeep Singh Bachher (BASc鈥 93, MASc 鈥94, PhD 鈥00) as the University of 蓝莓视频鈥檚 12th chancellor. Dr. Bachher is a proud three-time alum with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Management Sciences.鈥疘n his new鈥痳ole as chancellor, the titular head of the University, he will act as a global champion for our institution, building and nurturing relationships around the world and advancing the University鈥檚 strategic goals. His new role builds on years of leadership on 蓝莓视频鈥檚 Board of Governors, including the role of vice-chair since 2020. I鈥檓 thrilled that he鈥檚 taken on this position to drive key partnerships in support of the University and the 蓝莓视频 at 100 vision.
We saw partnerships in action in the heart of 蓝莓视频鈥檚 鈥淢ath district鈥 with the groundbreaking of the Mathematics 4 building on our main campus. Donors continue to play a critical role in creating this facility, which is the result of more than a decade of strategic planning. When it opens in two to three years, it will provide Math researchers and students with vital space for learning, collaboration and discovery, including a state-of-the-art 鈥済reen鈥 server room for more environmentally friendly computing.
Expanding our presence on our Health Sciences Campus in downtown Kitchener, the University will soon celebrate the Grand Opening of the Innovation Arena. This 90,000 square-foot collaboration space will connect businesses, founders and community partners to advance innovation in health tech and other vital sectors. It will also serve as the new home of Velocity, 蓝莓视频鈥檚 signature entrepreneurship program, driving founders鈥 success by providing access to cutting-edge labs, equipment, and workspace. University and business leaders including Mike Stork and Dominic Barton have stepped forward to make this initiative possible. Their contributions will ensure our entrepreneurial ecosystem continues to drive innovation and economic growth across our region and Canada.
I鈥檓 truly grateful to donors for their generosity, whether they make a leadership gift, a monthly payroll deduction or a gift in their will. Their support fosters the spirit of possibility for which 蓝莓视频 is known. On November 15, my team and I will be calling 蓝莓视频 donors to say thank you as part of National Philanthropy Day. If your phone rings, I hope you鈥檒l take a moment to connect with us so we can share our appreciation.
