DESCRIPTION:Summary \n\nAmong the legislated responsibilities of the univer
 sity\, we are\nrequired to provide a safe environment for learning and wor
 king and\none which is free from discrimination\, harassment\, and viole
 nce and\nto accommodate students who have a disability. It is important f
 or\nleaders of academic units and supervising employees\, and those\nwor
 king directly with students to understand what it means to meet\nthese obl
 igations. In this session\, we will learn about two sets of\nresponsibilit
 ies. Kate Windsor\, Director of Safety will discuss the\nrole of units in 
 ensuring compliance with legislation\, programs and\nstandards\, particula
 rly POLICY 34 AND THE HEALTH\, SAFETY AND\nENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM 
 (HSEMS). Jennifer\nGillies\, Vice Associate Provost\, Campus Support a
 nd Accessibility\nwill build awareness around our obligations stemming fr
 om\nthe ONTARIO HUMAN RIGHTS CODE\, the ACCESSIBILITY FOR ONTARIANS WITH
 \nDISABILITIES ACT\, and other statutory requirements\, noting the\nsuppor
 ts available to uphold these requirements\, describe our duty to\naccommo
 date as defined by the ONTARIO HUMAN RIGHTS CODE\, and the\nlimits to stu
 dent accommodation. Both will be available to answer\nquestions and to dir
